Post-press processing: Book binding stitching process commonly used materials

The stapled material application mainly includes the following parts:

First, the wire

Iron wire is a material for wire leveling and saddle stitching.

The wire is a wire made by drawing a low-carbon steel. In order to prevent rust, a layer of non-rust metal zinc, tin, etc. is plated on the surface of the wire. The binding iron wire is mostly galvanized iron wire, which has a round shape and a flat shape. In order to meet the binding needs of books and magazines of different thicknesses, the commonly used iron wire has several sizes 21 to 25, and its diameter is 0.5mm to 0.84mm.

The binding iron wire should be uniform in thickness and thickness, with a smooth and shiny surface, suitable hardness and certain flexibility, so as to meet the requirement that the iron wire in the binding be bent without being broken.

Second, the gutter

The gutters are staples for sewing, sewing, three-eye and thread-binding. The binding thread includes wax thread, thread, twine, and synthetic fiber thread.

Cotton wax is called wax line, also known as cotton wax light. It is a hard-booked book core lock line used for custom materials. There are four types of cotton thread, the models are: 42S/4, 42S/6, 60S/4, 60S/6, (S and its preceding figures indicate the number of yarns, and the number behind the slashes indicates the number of shares). When binding, according to the thickness of the book, the number of copies of the signature, the same amount of paper, according to the standard selection of different thickness of the cotton thread.

The thread is soft and smooth, but its price is high and its flexibility is high. It is only used when sewing high-grade line-bound books and pictures.

The commonly used synthetic fiber threads include nylon thread and polyester thread. The strength of the nylon thread is high and thinner lines can be used. However, the nylon thread has a large elasticity, and it is not easy to lock the signature. After the cutting, there is a phenomenon that the incision is uneven or the back of the book is bent.
