3D Systems Introduces New Polypropylene-based Materials to the Japanese Market

South Carolina Rock Hill, USA, 3D Systems, the world's leading 3D printing, rapid prototyping and manufacturing solutions company, will announce at the Design Engineering Manufacturing Expo (DMS) in Tokyo on June 25-27, 2008 that it will be based on Sinterstation. ® System develops new polypropylene-based materials.

3D Systems will work with Japan's Kanagawa Corporation to develop a new selective laser sintering (SLS®) plastic - DuraForm® XR300. This revolutionary white material is translucent and flexible, yet has excellent chemical resistance and good impact strength. It is designed to be used in many applications, such as vehicle interiors that require soft, flexible and durable components. Although the product has not yet been commercialized, the DMS tour will have the opportunity to preview the DuraForm® XR300 material.

"3D Systems is pleased to introduce new polypropylene-based materials to the Japanese market, which are specifically used in our advanced selective laser sintering rapid manufacturing system," said Abe Reichental, President and Chief Operating Officer of 3D Systems. "After a decade of polyamide-based materials occupying the laser sintering technology, we are very pleased to be able to make outstanding contributions to breakthrough materials used in rapid prototyping. For 3D Systems, Japan has always been a very important market. And this technological breakthrough was accomplished with the cooperation of a Japanese research company. We are proud to have the opportunity to share next-generation systems and materials with our Japanese customers and advanced users of the DMS."

3D Systems will exhibit its new high-resolution ProJetTM HD 3000 3-D system using multi-jet model (MJMTM) technology and the Sinterstation® Pro DM250 SLM system for direct metal production. It will also exhibit large-framework professional systems - ViperTMPro SLA® and Sinterstation® Pro SLS® systems. All these systems use CAD data to create 3D parts.
