Domestic ink industry continues to grow in scale

In the past decade, China's packaging industry has experienced remarkable growth, which has significantly boosted the development of its ink manufacturing sector. Ten years ago, most printing factories primarily relied on offset inks for their operations. However, today, the market has evolved into a more diverse landscape, with solvent inks, water-based inks, UV inks, screen printing inks, and traditional offset inks coexisting and catering to different industrial needs. This transformation has been driven by the rapid expansion of the packaging industry, which has created a higher demand for versatile and high-performance inks. Among these, water-based printing varnishes have gained increasing popularity due to their eco-friendly properties. Made from synthetic resins, additives, and water through advanced processing techniques, they are non-toxic, non-irritating, and free from harmful organic solvents. Their low cost and availability of raw materials make them an attractive alternative to traditional solvent-based inks. Moreover, water-based inks help reduce health risks and environmental pollution, making them particularly favored by companies in the food, pharmaceutical, and tobacco sectors. As China's national economy continues to grow, the printing and packaging industries have flourished, further fueling the expansion of the ink manufacturing sector. Over the last ten years, China has rapidly emerged as one of the world’s largest ink producers. The domestic ink industry is currently growing at a rate of around 10% annually, showing no signs of slowing down. Despite this progress, the industry still faces several challenges. Many companies operate on a small scale, with limited market share. Technological innovation remains weak, and domestically produced inks often lack strong environmental protection standards. Additionally, there is a shortage of specialized talent in ink technology, which hinders long-term development. To address these issues, the industry has taken proactive steps, such as increasing investment in research and development, focusing on green ink technologies, and strengthening education and training in ink science. These efforts have led to noticeable improvements and laid a solid foundation for future growth.
