How to Package Metal Plates for Digital Signs – The Packaging Doctor

By Carl Board • Tuesday 17th May 2016

It’s been a great week so far with some really pleasant weather, and as always, the surgery has been busy — which is exactly how we like it. There’s nothing more rewarding than helping our customers find the right packaging solutions for their needs.

We’ve all been there — leaving something until the last minute and then scrambling to get it done in time. But at Kite, we’re here to help, no matter the deadline. Our team is always on hand to answer calls throughout the day, and with next-day delivery options, we can get your products to you when you need them most.

Today, we had a customer who was in a real rush. He only had two days to find a solution and get his goods delivered. In true Kite fashion, we supported him every step of the way, offering the perfect packaging solution that met his requirements and got delivered on time.

He needed solid, protective packaging for 600 metal plates. Lay-flat tubing and bubble wrap were too time-consuming and not ideal for what he needed. So, we sat down and came up with a better option.

Hi Doctor,

I’m sure you can help — I’m under a lot of pressure and need to find a solution to pack 600 metal plates. I need the packaging within two days.

The plates are 950mm long and 12cm wide. I want something strong and protective. Lay-flat tubing and bubble wrap are too slow and not the best choice for this kind of product.

I hope you can help.

Thank you

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for reaching out today. As always, we have just the solution for you.

Bubble wrap is a great option for many applications, but we completely agree — sometimes there are faster, more efficient ways to protect your items without compromising on quality.

Lay-flat tubing is useful for custom bags and offers good protection from dust and moisture, but for something as large and heavy as your metal plates, we think you need something sturdier.

Let me introduce you to my recommendation… postal tubes!

Postal tubes are often associated with protecting artwork or posters, but they're actually incredibly versatile and can be used for a wide range of products. For your specific case, I’d recommend extra-large postal tubes — they’re perfect for your plate dimensions.

They provide full protection, are easy to use, and can be reused multiple times. This makes them an excellent choice for your 600 metal plates.

I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out.

Best regards,

The Packaging Doctor
