April has officially arrived, and time seems to be flying by. At Kite, we're always here to help our customers find the perfect packaging solution. After a nice Easter break, we're feeling refreshed and back in full swing, ready to offer you expert advice and innovative packaging ideas.
Today in the Surgery, we met with a local butcher who's looking for a new packaging option that meets her courier's requirements. Right now, she uses polystyrene boxes inside grey mailing bags—but her courier has told her they won't accept this kind of packaging. She needs a more suitable alternative.
Dear Doctor,
Could you please help me find a new packaging solution? I currently send my products in polystyrene boxes placed inside grey mailing bags. However, my courier has advised that they won’t handle this type of packaging anymore, so I need to find something else. My containers are 400 x 300 x 160 mm and 400 x 300 x 280 mm. I also need to make sure the packages are clearly labeled so the courier can identify them properly.
Thank you,
Katrina
Hi Katrina,
Thanks for reaching out today. It’s completely understandable how easy it is to stick with what you know—especially when it comes to packaging. But don’t worry, that’s exactly why we’re here: to help you find a better, more compliant solution.
Grey mailing bags are a great and cost-effective option, but I understand you need something different. Let me suggest our BDCM 4 cardboard box. This is a high-quality single-wall box with a write-on panel, which allows you to label each package clearly for the courier. It’s durable and designed for safe shipping.
However, if the BDCM 4 feels too tight for your items, we can also send you a sample of our 16 x 16 x 16 inch double wall box. These are ideal for heavier items and when stacking is required. The height can be adjusted down to 305mm, helping save space without compromising on strength.
We’d also recommend using handling labels and document wallets to ensure the packages are clearly marked and avoid any confusion during delivery.
If you prefer the double wall box, just remember to fill any voids in the width to prevent movement. For this, I’d suggest our Speed-Man box—a low-cost, ready-to-use paper void fill system that’s easy to store and apply.
That’s our recommendation for now. We hope this helps! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.
Best regards,
The Packaging Doctor
