Argentina begins experimenting with genetically modified wheat

Argentina ’s National newspaper reported that researchers in the country have recently sown a batch of GM wheat seeds in the test field and plan to put the GM wheat on the market within 3 years.

This genetically modified wheat variety was jointly developed by the Argentine Scientific Research Council, National University of Litorell and Ceres Biotechnology. The researchers extracted specific gene fragments from sunflowers and planted them in wheat, so that the wheat would have a stronger ability to resist drought and salinity.

Allegedly, the unit productivity of this genetically modified wheat is 10% to 15% higher than that of ordinary wheat, and the income per hectare can be increased by 80 to 150 US dollars.

Philip Lone, the research director of the French Florimont de Pey breeding company involved in research and development, said that the genetically modified wheat cultivated in the past was mainly herbicide and insecticide resistant varieties, and Argentina adopted the second generation of genetically modified technology this time. The main purpose is to cultivate wheat varieties that can produce high yields in drought and saline environments.

According to reports, Argentina has been developing genetically modified wheat 10 years ago. Investors have invested a total of US $ 10 million in technology research and development and marketing. The genetically modified technology used by them has broad market prospects. It will also be promoted to wheat producing countries in Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil in the future.

The report said that Argentina was the first country to approve large-scale planting of GM wheat and plans to let it enter the market. Previously, the United States and Britain only approved small-scale field trials of some genetically modified wheat varieties.

PTFE Heavy Belt, with special formulated PTFE(Teflon) coating and fine weaved fiberglass fabric, is used as release liners or belts for various flooring applications.

Since PTFE heavy belting can withstand high temperatures, and is non stick, chemical resistant and has strong tensile strength, so PTFE coated conveyor belt or release sheet is used for rubber curing in ovens, walk off mats producing, Luxury vinyl tile manufacturing, PVC backed carpets and so on.
