Using photoshop to remove scanning textures

When we scan the pictures in the magazines and magazines, we often find that the scanned pictures have a reticular pattern. This phenomenon is called a texture. The reason for the reticulation is that the pictures on the magazines and magazines are actually made up of a lot of tiny ink color dots, and not uniform colors. This is particularly evident in newspapers, because newspapers do not need to be printed. It's so beautiful, so the outlets are particularly large. When these small dots are scanned, they will be reticulated, sometimes affecting the quality of the scan.

In fact, there are some simple methods in Photoshop to try to eliminate the texture on the scanned image. Here we introduce several common methods, we can use as appropriate.

First, the Despeckle method

Perform Filter/Noise/Sespeckle, using Photoshop's Despeckle filter, which is the quickest and most convenient method for descreening.

Second, zoom in and out

Scan the picture with a higher resolution first, then use Photoshop to reduce the picture to the desired size.

For example, the original image was scanned with 200dpi, the image size is 240160, and the texture is obvious. We scanned with 300dpi, the picture size increased to 360240, the screen still has a slight texture. Then execute Image/Image Size to reduce the image to 240160, and set the Resample Image parameter to Bicubic.

After the reduction, the texture of the picture is almost completely eliminated, the picture color becomes quite flat, and the quality is improved a lot.

Although this method works well, it still has limitations. For example, when scanning small pictures, the scanning resolution is usually adjusted very high, so it is no longer possible to scan the picture with a higher optical resolution. Nothing.

Third, the fuzzy method

Fuzzification is particularly effective for fine meshes. Executing Filter/Blur/Gaussian Blur to set the degree of blurring, but this method has a disadvantage, that is, the texture is reduced, but the picture is also blurred, use caution.

Fourth, Smart Blur method

Perform Filter/Blur/Smart Blur, Radius minimum, Threshold maximum.

Then slowly increase the Radius to the right (to be very slow or slow, or use the keyboard to enter the value), the color of the screen seems to be gradually wiped out, until you think the grain lines on the screen do not seem to be immediately after Stop, otherwise the screen will become very blurred.

Next, reduce the Threshold to the left. At this point, the screen will gradually recover its clarity. When it is less than one degree, the texture will resurface again. Carefully adjust an appropriate value and you're done.
