IEC 68-2-68 Test Method L The purpose of the sand dust test is to determine the effect of sand dust suspended in the air on electrical and electronic equipment. According to the purpose of the test, it can be divided into three kinds of test procedures: non-abrasive fine dust test, free dust test and dust blowing and sand blowing test. Below we mainly to understand the scope of application of these three tests.
1. Fine dust test without abrasion: suitable for evaluating the sealing of test pieces. This test method exposes the test piece to fine dust without abrasion force, and simulates the effect of internal and external air pressure difference caused by the cyclical change of the test piece temperature.
Second, the free dust test: suitable for simulating a sheltered environment. This test method exposes the test piece to a low-concentration sand dust environment. This environment is generated by intermittently discharging a certain amount of dust and causing dust to fall on the test piece by gravity.
Third, blowing dust and blowing sand test: suitable for simulating outdoor and vehicle use conditions. In this test method, the test piece is exposed to turbulent or laminar air containing a mixture of dust, sand or sand dust to evaluate the sealing effect of the test piece and the erosion effect of sand dust.
Note: This dust test is not intended to verify the performance of an air filter; the fine dust test does not simulate a natural or induced environment.
