High-blocking polyester special material developed successfully to help food bottles

Liaoyang Petrochemical Research Institute adopts a nano-composite method to add a polymer-modified nano-sol to the polyester during the synthesis process to make it evenly dispersed in the polyester polymer chain, effectively blocking gas permeation, and producing a high barrier polyester barrier. The outstanding performance is twice that of ordinary polyester. The high barrier polyester chips produced by this technology are simple to use in the manufacture of bottles and are easy to control. They do not require special precision and complicated injection molds. They can directly produce single-layer, transparent high-resistance poly-polymers on common injection molding and bottle-making equipment. Ester beer bottles effectively reduce production costs.

After three years of research, the Liaoyang Petrochemical Research Institute successfully completed the “Eleventh Five-Year” company-level technical issues of China National Petroleum Co., Ltd. and successfully developed a special high-barrier polyester material with nano-sol as additive.

According to reports, the special material for high barrier polyester is a new type of polyester raw material for bottle, which can be widely used in food packaging fields such as beer and dairy products. It can replace the traditional packaging of such foods and has a large amount of use and good market prospects.

The high barrier polyester chips that have been trial-produced using this technology were successively processed by one-step and two-step bottle-making at a number of bottle makers, including Shanghai Aisibi Machinery Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Huangyan Plastic Machinery Factory, and Liaoyang Tiancheng Plastic Products Co., Ltd. The results showed that the high barrier PET bottle developed by Liaoyang Petrochemical had good molding properties, uniform coloration of the bottle body, better surface finish of the bottle body, and good mechanical properties of the bottle body.

The successful development of the special polyester material will bring a new idea and new bright spot for the domestic low-grade polyester production and market.

At present, the technology has applied for six national invention patents, of which two have been granted patents, and the remaining four patents are being processed.
