Home design uses color to lead the trend

In today's fast-paced world, color trends are everywhere, shaping the way we design and innovate. From the 21st to the 22nd, the "Precision Development, Winning in Application" event and the Quanzhou Industrial Design Teacher's Lecture Hall brought together over 200 designers from the home goods industry for an insightful session led by AJ Shipp, a renowned color forecasting expert from the Netherlands. The session aimed to explore and predict upcoming color trends that will influence product design in the coming season. Hosted by the Quanzhou Economic and Trade Commission, the event attracted participants from various sectors, including textile bags, rattan and iron crafts, ceramics, and wooden products. Industry professionals from Guangdong’s Chaozhou and Zhejiang’s Taizhou also joined, showing the widespread interest in leveraging trend-driven design strategies. The lecture focused on the idea of "Reading Trends to Win the Market." By understanding consumer behavior and using trends as a foundation for design, companies can better align their products with market demands. AJ Shipp, who serves as the design director at 3HOUSE, a top-tier design agency, shared valuable insights on how to integrate trend analysis into the creative process, helping businesses stay ahead in a competitive landscape. As summer progresses, home goods companies are preparing for another wave of product development, especially in anticipation of the Autumn Fair. Zhou Jianhong, general manager of the Process Resource Network, emphasized the importance of trend-based innovation. By collaborating with international trend agencies, the network aims to support local manufacturers in creating products that resonate with global markets. Under the theme of "Learning Trends and Enhancing the Value of Design and Application," AJ Shipp explored three key themes: "Nature and Nostalgia," "Hidden Mystery," and "Scandinavian Craft." He analyzed color and material trends from 2015 to 2016, highlighting how these elements shape modern design and reflect public aesthetic preferences. This event was different from previous lectures, as it combined theory with practical demonstrations. Attendees were shown examples of the latest home accessories and soft materials that embody current trends. Representatives from the Surface Effect Processing Center also provided detailed explanations on how to apply these trends in real-world production. During live Q&A sessions, designers engaged in meaningful discussions about challenges they face in their work. Weng Shiying, deputy general manager of Dexin Weaving Co., Ltd., attended the entire event and shared her company's efforts to build a brand centered around customized home products. She emphasized the growing need to keep up with international color trends to meet higher standards of personalization and style. Overall, this event not only provided valuable knowledge but also inspired a new approach to design—one that is more responsive, innovative, and aligned with global market dynamics.
