Accordingly, the target moisture is reset to 10.5%, thereby reducing the weight loss by 2% (10.5% -8.5%). The benefits of this study include: reduced energy consumption for drying and a 2.5% weight loss. The plant annually produces 50,000 tons of extruded (expanded) feed at an average selling price of US $ 400 per ton, resulting in an annual benefit of US $ 500,000 (50,000 × 400 × 2.5%).
