3D printing has OUT? GE Healthcare develops seven-dimensional imaging technology
Recently, GE (General Medical Group) has developed a seven-dimensional (7D) imaging technology. The name of the audio-visual name seems to have smashed several streets in 3D. Does this mean that the era of 3D is out?
It is understood that the so-called 7D imaging technology is actually a new type of magnetic resonance scanning technology. Images of the heart can be taken and presented from seven dimensions: three spatial dimensions, one temporal dimension and three velocity dimensions.
The 7D imaging technology ViosWorks was developed by Anja Brau, director of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging development at General Medical Group. The development of this technology was carried out at the GE R&D Center in Munich. The entire R&D team includes cardiologists, physicists, engineers and software developers. According to the team, ViosWorks can capture data from seven dimensions and see images in as little as 8 minutes, while traditional magnetic resonance typically takes 45 minutes to an hour to get an image. But this hour is crucial for heart attack authors.
In addition, traditional magnetic resonance imaging is presented on a single sheet, while ViosWorks visualizes the real-time conditions throughout the chest, including blood flow, ventricular systole, and acute bleeding and scarring. During the entire scan, the patient is free to breathe, but in routine magnetic resonance imaging, the patient is required to maintain a certain pattern of breathing in order to ensure a clear image (this is difficult to do in a heart attack).
Currently, ViosWorks has not yet been officially listed. General Medical Group demonstrated the technology at the North American Radiology Conference in Chicago, and believes that the introduction of this technology will have a dramatic impact on the entire healthcare industry.
ViosWorks software can also be installed on existing MRI scanners, while allowing doctors to create more accurate 3D models and set up surgical procedures in advance. Although this technology is specifically for cardiac imaging, there is no doubt that it will quickly expand into other areas, as this is just the beginning of a great breakthrough.
